July/August 2008 NEWSFLASH

Our very dear Family and Friends,

Warmest greetings to you all in these very hot “dog-days”
of summer! We understand the source of the term “dog days”
is derived from the Latin for the Dog Star, Sirius, “dies
caniculares” which rises and sets with the sun during this
period. Understanding this does not make our days any
cooler – but we do know that eventually fall will come -and
then we can complain about the coming winter...!

We continue to keep very busy here at Saint John’s,
planning for the fall. We have had some special visitors
over the summer, notably Jim Baltzell from Minnesota who
found out what real heat was like… and no doubt was
delighted to return home just a week later! But seriously,
Jim volunteered his time to help us out in updating our
computer programs, answering questions and helping to plan
for the future. We are all most grateful for his help.

A very warm welcome to Terri Rosenthal, former leader of
the work in California, and Marcia Lynn who have moved
close by the Lodge here in Texas - they are adjusting
nicely to the heat and humidity - and are already providing
help and support to the Center. A very warm welcome home!

A reminder that there are still spaces for our fall
retreats. Email us at retreats@whiteaglelodge.org for
bookings. Almost all our retreats for 2009 are up on the
web www.whiteaglelodge.org - as always we much look forward
to seeing you.

For your visual pleasure, we have attached two views of our
beautiful Texas Bluebells taken by Jeff Badmington on
Temple Hill. We thought this might add a bright spot to
your day.

Jean sends much love and gratitude for the hundreds of kind
thoughts and memories you continue to share with her and
the family since John’s passing in July. Just a reminder
to those who are in the area, there will be a service
celebrating John’s life in the Temple on Saturday August
23rd at 11 a.m. All are invited. Refreshments will be
served in the Retreat House afterwards.

As we all know times are not easy for many of us... in fact
time seems almost non-existent. Perhaps a few moments with
White Eagle's wisdom will help ease the journey; this comes
as always with our love and an especially big hug to those
of you in particular need. Blessings to all.

From the Gentle Brother:

"Beloved children, we bring you all love. We are mindful of
the sorrows of our brethren on earth. We cannot take
sorrow from you because it is your experience, which will
open your eyes to the beauty of the spiritual life; we
cannot interfere with your Karma, but we are permitted at
times to give you a word which will help you on your
journey; and when we see that you are apparently taking a
path which will bring you to heartache and pain, we stand
by your side, inspiring you with courage and strength;.
Never forget this; and however difficult the path, remember
that the way you have been led by the spirit, through your
own heart, is God's way, and it is the right way. Knowing
this, you must then resign yourself to God's love.
If you will at all times try to rise above the emotional
plane and look into the eyes of your Master, those
beautiful compassionate, tender eyes, you will feel this
love enfolding you and you will know that all is well. We
beseech you to try, in your earthly confusion, to seek your
own inner sanctuary; humbly kneel before the presence of
the Golden One. Do not let your earthly mind argue;
surrender yourself to Divine Law, and then peace and joy
will flow freely into you, and you will have God, you will
know that God is love and God's way is always the right
way. Brethren, trust Him and have faith. If you know you
have been rebellious, ask humbly for forgiveness, and then
my dear brethren be kind and loving. Remember that this is
the only free-will choice - not whether you will go this
way or that way, but whether you on the one hand accept the
experiences with true love and humanity, or whether you are
rebellious and angry, and full of tortuous emotion.
Seek to grow towards the Christ-hood.

Let peace fill your heart and mind and life. God never
makes a mistake. If you do not understand, be patient and
wait. In due time the light will shine and you will
understand."
